A WYRE Forest rescue charity is appealing for more volunteers.

The district’s branch of the Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) – a land and boat rescue service – is looking to recruit team leaders and other staff.

Cally Carter, head of support services at SARA’s Wyre Forest rescue station, said: “After the floods which have taken place so far this year SARA has been experiencing a great deal of strain on its resources.

“They need the help of the people. All crew members are volunteers and they are solely dependent on public donations, collections and sponsorships. Remember, without this you will lose your local rescue station and crew.

“If you have any spare time to donate, from one, two hours, half a day or a full day per week or per month, we need hands-on helpers to help with street collections, organising and giving support at fundraising events.”

She added training would be given and no experience was needed. Contact Ms Carter on 01562 850155 or email SARA.WFRS.Supporters@sara-rescue.org.uk
