THE team behind Bewdley's first Passion play have announced Easter 2015 will again see the telling of Christ's crucifixion on the town's streets.

Last year's performance saw more than 2,000 people pack into Bewdley town centre to mark one of the most important events in the Christian calendar.

Organisers have announced that next year's Passion play will be performed over three days, showing Christ's betrayal, trail and resurrection throughout Easter weekend.

Director Steve Conway said: "I am extremely excited by this new production which brings to life one of the defining stories of our time.

"On Easter Saturday, musical director Jim Ineson has composed a number of songs, whose quality was beyond anything I expected.

"They capture the mood of the resurrection story superbly and the performance by some of the county’s finest actors and singers will be a fitting climax to Bewdley Passion 2015.

"The 2013 Passion play drew a huge audience into Bewdley town centre - so many that we have made a number of changes to the staging in order improve the visibility and audibility of the actors for the 2015 play.

"The 2015 play will require a larger cast and I will be announcing, shortly, dates and venue for anyone interested to come and meet with us.

"Bewdley Passion 2015 is a major theatrical production and if anyone is interested in sponsoring or supporting the production then please don’t hesitate to get in contact with me."

The first of the three performances will be held on Maundy Thursday next year, where a short play based on the betrayal and arrest of Christ will be performed in the Jubilee Gardens.

On Good Friday, the story of the trial and crucifixion of Christ will be performed in Load Street on Saturday, there will be a musical based on the resurrection in the Jubilee Gardens.
