A CARE home in Stourport is opening its doors to host a summer garden party as part of National Care Home Open Day.

Ravenhurst Residential Care Home will be marking the occasion by inviting members of the public to visit the home between 11am and 6pm on Friday, June 20.

The home’s garden will be decorated with bunting and flags ready for the unveiling of a new look courtyard and a residents’ vintage shop.

Entertainment starts at 2pm where the resident’s will be joined by a swing band, The Gershwin Gang, and a visit from a miniature Shetland pony.

At 4pm a barbecue will be lit which will offer burgers and hot dogs. Strawberry cream teas will be available and punch will also be served throughout the afternoon.

National Care Home Open Day will see care homes across the UK open their doors on June 20 to invite people along to share a special day, forging links between their residents and the local communities.

David Armstrong, home manager, said: “We wanted to do something a little different for National Care Home Open Day, so thought what better way to celebrate the summer than with a spectacular garden party.

“We would love to see some new and familiar faces from the local community – and welcome the loved ones of residents past and present along to enjoy a special day with us.”
