CAMPAIGNERS who successfully fought a refused application for a Tesco Express in Areley Kings will hold a public meeting to discuss their next steps.

Andrew Booton, chairman of Areley Kings First, will lead a meeting, along with the group's committee at Areley Kings Village Hall, Areley Common, on Monday, June 30, at 7.30pm.

Mr Booton said the group wanted to discuss with residents updates and options going forward. Tesco is yet to confirm whether or not it will appeal against the decision to refuse its planning application to extend the Squirrel Pub, Areley Common and open a Tesco Express at the site, with spokesman Simon Petar saying the firm was waiting for the council's planning report.

Mr Booton said his group was also waiting for the decision document to be published by Wyre Forest District Council but wanted to talk to members about what could be done with the Squirrel site going forward should Tesco not appeal or how the supermarket giant's appeal could be opposed, should it go ahead.

selfish who are only thinking of themselves, ant not the good it WILL do for the community, the parking outside londis is a joke, and it wont be long until an accident happens my mom nearly got ran over a few weeks back trying to cross the road to get to londis, as she had to park on the main road due to no parking spaces, at least Tesco would have a car park big enough for its customers. stop thinking of yourselvs and give a real thought for all the people who would like a Tesco there,

It is abundantly clear that the residents most affected do not want another store. Perhaps surprisingly they have won the argument that is democracy at work. Tesco will have had success with many other planning applications, equally controversial and equally contested. Tesco should do the decent thing and walk away from this one. Areley Kings has managed without a Tesco and will continue to do so.
