AN ANNUAL showcase of services available to senior residents will this year be opened by BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen.

The event, at Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday, August 7, will offer free information and advice regarding healthy living, finances, benefits and local services to older people.

Last year’s showcase was attended by more than 300 senior residents from throughout Wyre Forest.

Mr Owen will be opening the showcase at 9.30am before getting stuck into some of the activities on offer.

Several activities and sessions will be held until 1.30pm, including laughter yoga, cookery demonstrations and gentle exercise routines.

Visitors are being encouraged to ask questions and discover the services which are readily available to ensure they are achieving the best possible healthy lifestyle.

Various organisations will be attending the event including Age UK Wyre Forest, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, MS Society, Tax Help for Older People, Wyre Forest Community Housing, Alzheimer’s Society and Stroke Association.

Wyre Forest district councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and housing, said: “This worthwhile event will, once again, be offering our senior residents invaluable advice and information, which will benefit their general lifestyle within the community.

“Previous showcase events have received excellent feedback and the organisations which attend are able to have more personalised contact with the senior residents and the public.”

Free entry and refreshments, including tea, coffee and biscuits, will be available and three will be a free prize draw and give-aways.
