Will the new HMP Oakwood in Featherstone, be another example of soft options for criminals. Prisoners will be allowed to wear their own clothes, and every cell comes with its own cell phoine. With the release of this information about the facilities available to prisoners at the £200 million prison, comes, the obligatory excuses and explanations which lean so far towards the politically correct they immediately fall down. A spokesman states that, of course the inmates will have to earn the right to use the telephone as a privilege, similar to the way prisoners have to earn the right to watch television. Phone calls will be paid for by the inmates themselves. That shouldn't cause too much of a hardship when you take into account that prisoners are eligible for unemployment pay if they are willing to work but the establishment cannot find suitable employment, or the prisoner is unable to work.
