bdht, Bromsgrove’s largest provider of affordable housing, has released seven new shared ownership properties for local people at its Rubery Lane development in Rubery, South Birmingham.

The brand new properties are a combination of spacious two and three bedroomed houses and offer buyers the opportunity to part purchase initially, with a view to buying more shares over time, offering a manageable first step onto the property ladder.

They are priced from £83,750* and potential buyers are advised to act fast as the New Year has seen a boost in house sales. Some of the properties are available now with the rest becoming available by March 2016.

Mike Brown, Chief Executive of bdht, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer the people of Rubery and the surrounding areas these brand new shared ownership homes, enabling buyers who may have struggled to save a deposit, to get onto the property ladder. As a local provider of affordable housing, bdht is committed to providing homes to meet the aspirations of the people living within the communities we serve.

“Many local people cannot make that first step onto the property ladder without schemes such as shared ownership, so we are pleased to be able to continue to offer such initiatives and provide a steady flow of affordable homes.

“I would urge anyone keen to move now to pick up the phone and speak to our advisors. Anyone who is unsure whether shared ownership is for them or who thinks they cannot afford to buy their own home should also get in touch as we may be able to help and can certainly offer expert advice to meet their housing needs.”

Shared ownership is a scheme which sees the buyer purchase a share of the property, normally 50 per cent, and pay rent on the remaining share.
