Pet-owners can give their animal friend the chance of a starring role in a nationwide competition launched by leading housebuilder Taylor Wimpey to find the best pet picture.

The Pets Make A Home competition invites pet-owners to submit a photograph of their best pal looking their most ‘at home’ – so if their kitten thinks they’re king of the catwalk, their dog hogs the spotlight, or their chickens simply rule the roost, then they should send in the snap to prove it!

Taylor Wimpey is looking for the cutest and quirkiest pictures of animals in their favourite place at home, whether they’ve taken over the bed, the sofa, the windowsill, the dining table – or a more unusual spot they’ve made their own.

The Pets Make A Home competition is being launched on 1st April to coincide with the start of National Pet Month and entries will be accepted until 2nd May.

The photo with the most votes each day during the competition will win a personalised pet gift, while the overall winner of the Pets Make A Home competition – to be announced before the end of May and judged by a panel including a professional photographer and a pet expert – will receive £500 of high street vouchers.

Britain is a nation of animal lovers and almost half of the UK’s households have a pet. These include the most popular animals – dogs and cats – as well as common creatures like fish, birds and rabbits, and the more unusual, including snakes and turtles.

Last year’s competition saw more than 4,000 adorable pet photos submitted and over 60,000 votes cast.

Elaine Cartwright, Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey West Midlands, says: “We are delighted to launch the ever-popular Pets Make A Home competition this year to coincide with National Pet Month and can’t wait to see the pictures that pet owners post.

“We saw some fantastic photos – and heard some amazing stories – in last year’s hugely successful competition, which left us in no doubt that pets really do make a house a home!”

Pet-owners will be able to enter photos of their pet by visiting www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/pets and entering their details via the specially created app.

Twitter and Instagram users can also enter by tweeting or posting their image via their own account with the hashtag #TWPetsMakeAHome. Entrants will receive a response message thanking them for their entry as confirmation.
