Kidderminster leukaemia fund-raising concert

A WOMAN who died of leukaemia will be remembered at a fund-raising event in Kidderminster.

Julie Lutwyche died last September and her two nieces, Jelena and Natasha Radisa, have organised a concert at the town hall in her memory.

Proceeds from the evening will go to the Leukaemia Unit Appeal Fund, which supports The Georgina cancer unit at Dudley’s Russell’s Hall Hospital.

The charity provides funds for vital equipment to improve the standard of living for patients.

Jelena said: “After hearing so many similar stories, and realising that leukaemia is not just something that happens to other people, we decided that it was time to take action and give something back to the people who treated, and cared for, Julie throughout her illness.”

The show will feature live music from Kidderminster indie band, The Amateurs, alternative rock-folk group The Outdoor Types and a performance by the Placebo dance company. There will also be a raffle and a designer fashion show.

The organisers are appealing to businesses to sponsor the event, either by donating money or contributing to the raffle prizes.

The show is held on Saturday, June 27. Tickets are available from the town hall or by emailing brightside2009@hotmail.co.uk
