KIDDERMINSTER Beekeepers Association is busy hosting the honey stand at the Spring Garden Show at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern, until Sunday.

Member for 35 years, David Mills said: “We get a tremendous response. With all the publicity bees have we get a lot of interest. We take an observation hive down with us so people can see the queen bee and ask questions.”

There will be bee keeping equiptment on show plus local honey, bee friendly plants and beeswax candles for sale and information on beekeeping.

There are seven branches of Worcestershire Bee keepers Association which take a turn of hosting the stand each year.

The Kidderminster branch was set up in 1930 by a small group of local enthusiasts and among the first members was the then doyen of beekeepers in the county, Van Frachem, who lived in Stourport.

In 2000, the society had about 25 members but this number has since tripled.
