Treats from Rustie's world

KIDDERMINSTER celebrity, Rustie Lee, will make her mark when she signs copies of her new book this weekend.

The book, Rustie Lee - A Taste of the Caribbean, is her first recipe book since 1984 and features 120 recipes for food and drink from across the Caribbean.

Rustie, who recently appeared in EastEnders as the aunt of street sweeper, Gus, will be at WHSmith, in Vicar Street, Kidderminster, on Saturday, from 1pm until 3pm.

Recipes in the new book include Caribbean favourites, such as Rice and Peas, Ackee and Saltfish, Jerk Chicken and traditional Journey Cakes. It also features her own Caribbean Christmas cake recipe and the rum-based Rustie's Aphrodisiac Cocktail.

The books are complemented with colour photographs and a DVD, which shows Rustie cooking 12 of her favourite dishes, personally selected from her book.

The DVD was partly filmed in Jamaica, with Rustie returning to her home country for the first time in 10 years.

She said: "I had a lot of fun compiling the book and filming the DVD.

"I hope that people will enjoy the book, have a lot of fun trying the recipes and experiencing a taste of the Caribbean."

The book is published by HandE Publishers Limited and is available from bookshops, priced £24.
