FOLK song workshops will be held at Hartlebury Museum this weekend as part of a choral history project.

Singers and non-singers of all ages are invited to learn new folk songs which have been written during the project.

Workshops, which start at noon and 2pm on Sunday, will be led by Geoff Weaver, conductor of Young Voices and Kidderminster Choral Society.

The project has involved children from St Ambrose's RC, St Mary's and Offmore Primary Schools, in Kidderminster and Lickhill and St Wulstan's RC Primary Schools, in Stourport.

For the project, the youngsters researched life in the early 20th century.

Their work was turned into poems by writer, David Calcutt, and set to folksongs by Mr Weaver. A CD will be available.

The project has been guided by Singworks - a Worcestershire based organisation that encourages choral singing among children.
