A KIDDERMINSTER-based filmmaker is hoping for global success with his Second World War short film.

Around Again, made by Stewart Addison and the Film Division collective, was chosen for last year's Worcestershire Film Festival. The crew now hopes to get the film recognised at international festivals.

The short film was made in April last year by a team of 50 people including several from the Birmingham School of Acting and Wyre Forest.

Director Stewart Addison opted for a Second World War theme for the film which saw him turn a basement into a Nazi Germany style-bunker.

He shipped the cast and crew out to Hopwood in Worcestershire where they turned the fields into something similar to a scene from Saving Private Ryan.

The crew went to town with Second World War costumes, a period car, pyrotechnics and a troupe of Kidderminster based battle re-enactment guys who showed the actors how to use the firearms properly.

After initially deciding to do a three-minute edit, Stewart decided to extend the film in a bid to focus on the cinematography and costume.

A sound editor was also hired to encapsulate the mood of what they were trying to achieve .

The film, starring Adam Lawrence and Kate O'Neill, is set in Normandy in the latter part of the Second World War.

It follows the story of a young girl, whose parents are members of the French Resistance, as they attempt to escape the destruction of Caen with war raging around them.
