GLITZ and glamour will be coming to a Bewdley hotel to raise funds for the Birmingham Children's Hospital liver unit.

The ballroom dance evening will be hosted by Style Dance School principal Csaba Polgar, whose son six-year-old Kristof Polgar had a liver transplant three years ago.

Csaba, of Stourbridge, said the hospital saved his son's life and he hopes to raise money and awareness of organ donation at the Mercure Hotel in Habberley Road on Friday from 8.30pm.

Dancers from Style Dance School, which holds classes in Wyre Forest, will be performing throughout the evening including a special number by Kristof with his sister Fanni.

Csaba said: "Our six-year-old son Kristof celebrated the third anniversary of his liver transplant this February.

"Now he is living a quality life, he enjoys school, has lots of friends, has been elected as member of the school council. He is playing badminton, learning ballroom dance, he is taking part in tennis tournaments and enjoys life.

"Last year in Sheffield, he was a proud member of the Birmingham Children's Hospital Team in the British Transplant Games winning a silver medal in running and a bronze medal in obstacle race.

"This would not be possible without Professor Deirdre Kelly and her amazing team in the Liver Unit of the Birmingham Children's Hospital.

"Professor Kelly's dedication and passion for delivering the best possible care and outcome to all of her little patients is remarkable. "She set up the liver unit which is now the leading liver unit in the world and under her leadership the survival rate for children who have liver transplants has increased significantly.

"She set the clinical excellence as a minimum standard and she is not only delivering care in a clinical sense with her team, but care in the most holistic sense.

"They are a shining example of a unit based on family centred care. She knows, how important it is, to stay together as a family in those hard times.

"We are eternally grateful for Professor Kelly, for her team and all the staff involved in Kristof's care for saving not only his life, but saving our lives, too and for saving and transforming lives every day.

"There are no words which could sufficiently express our gratitude for their incredible hard work and taking that extra mile, which makes a real difference to families."
