RECOGNISED as the foremost exponent of the ‘Bowlly’ style of crooning, Brandyn Shaw will be hosting The Black Out Ball at Kidderminster Town Hall.

Performing as the late, great Al Bowlly, the 26-year-old said he was delighted to be hosting his Palais de Danse ballroom event at the town's venue on Saturday (June 27), which coincides with the Severn Valley Railway's 1940's weekend.

During the 1930s, and through the Second World War years, the town hall became a popular dance hall, where many local couples met while gliding round the dance floor in the music room.

Leading his Rhythm Makers dance band, with its truly authentic sound and style, Brandyn and the band recreate and celebrate the popular hits from golden era of British dance bands, the 1920’s, 30’s and early ‘40s.

The Black Out Ball promises to be a great night out, where young and old can experience and re-live what it was like to dance the night away during those early war time years.

There will be a raffle in support of The Royal British Legion and The Severn Valley Railway. The prizes have been kindly donated by local businesses in both Kidderminster and Bridgnorth.

Tickets for The Black Out Ball are £20 each and are available from palais-de-danse.co.uk or at Kidderminster Town Hall's Box Office by calling 01562 732158.

There is a dress code for the event where guests are encouraged to wear evening wear and/or allied forces military dress uniforms are encouraged. Vintage daywear and authentic battledress are also acceptable. No fancy dress or AXIS uniforms will be admitted.

The event has a fully licensed bar, with limited snacks and nibbles.
