IF YOU think that nothing ever happens in your local village hall except the occasional birthday party or exercise class take another look and get ready for an evening of folk music from one of its biggest starts, Ashley Hutchings MBE.

On Saturday (November 7), Shrawley Village Hall is coming to life with From Psychedelia to Sonnets.

In From Psychedelia to Sonnets, Hutchings, ‘The Guv’nor’ of British folk rock, tells his fascinating story and shares lyrics, poems and writings from his career.

At the village hall, Hutchings will be celebrating his 70th 'pioneering' year with a special 'words and music' show, sharing the stories behind the writings, adding detail to the history of the bands he has created, and describing some of the many theatre projects he has brought to fruition.

Special guest Ruth Angell (Rainbow Chasers) will be lending her pure vocal delivery and fiddle to the event, creating atmospheric musical backgrounds to the stories and bringing to life varied songs and music from Hutching's illustrious career.

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, cost £10, and can be booked by calling either Sue, on 01905 621537, or Pauline, on 01299 871176.
