BILL Kenwright’s production of one of the greatest family musicals of all time, the Sound of Music, is at Birmingham Hippodrome this week.
BBC’s the Voice runner-up and award-nominated Lucy O’Byrne will take on the role of Maria, while Andrew Lancel, best known as super-villain Frank Foster in Coronation Street, will play Captain Von Trapp.
The staging of the classical musical coincides with the 50th anniversary of the film version – the most successful movie musical in history.
The unforgettable score features some of the most memorable songs ever performed on stage, including Edelweiss, My Favourite Things, So Long Farewell and, of course, the Sound of Music.
The Sound of Music is at Birmingham Hippodrome until Saturday (May 28), with tickets priced from £20.
