THE West Midland Light Orchestra, who are celebrating their 35th birthday this year, will perform a special Christmas concert in Stourport this weekend.

The orchestra's concert "A Swingin' Christmas at 35" on Sunday (December 17) at Stourport Manor, from 7.30pm.

The amateur orchestra play popular tunes from the Great American Songbook, shows and films - and has gone from strength to strength and has recently appointed a new conductor.

Jack Campey, the orchestra's new conductor and musical director, said: "I am delighted to become the new MD for WMLO.

"They are a delightful group of like-minded musicians with a passion for this music and I'm looking forward to the musical adventures ahead of us.

"This is the only orchestra I can think of whose sole repertoire is jazz and so called 'light' music and they're brilliant at it."

The orchestra's 40+ members play entirely for fun and for the shared love of music.

Ticket's for Sunday's concert cost £7 on the door.
