PROUD pooches will be strutting their stuff in Wolverley next weekend as part of a fundraising project.

Dogs and their owners from the village and beyond are being invited to the second Wolverley Fun Dog show, which will be held on Sunday, June 10.

The event is part of the Wolverley Country Fayre and is aimed at raising cash for the Wolverley Memorial Project.

Organisers said the event was a huge success last year and have made this event bigger and better with more trophies and prizes up for grabs.

Categories will include “Fastest Sausage Eater”, “Best Rescue”, “Cutest Puppy”, “Prettiest Bitch” and “Fancy Dress amongst others.

It costs £1.50 to enter a dog and the classes, sponsored by local businesses, and will be judged by dog show professional Mary Blount – who is also raising money for EverMore Dog Rescue.

Alongside the dog show, the country fayre will feature stalls with locally made crafts and produce, teas, handmade cakes and a beer tent. There will also be a tug-o-war competition at 3pm.

The event takes place on Wovlerley Memorial Field, and anyone wanting to enter the Dog Show needs to register their dog from 10.30am on the day.
