AN art demonstration on landscapes will be given by a 25-year-old former Society for All Artists (SAA) artist of the year at Trimpley Village Hall.

Fraser Scarfe will draw at the event organised by Kidderminster Art Society (KAS), on Thursday, June 16, at 7.15pm. The society’s theme for month is Structures.

Fraser completed a period as artist in residence at Lincoln Cathedral in 2008.

Working in acrylic and more recently oils, he aims to convey through paint the actual experience of being in a place, always trying to avoid the clichés and pitfalls inherent in landscape art.

His practice is based upon a strong foundation in drawing and strict observation.

Drawings made in situ aim to capture the energy and dynamism of a place or experience, these drawings then inform the process of painting, where, through the use of marks, texture and colour his aim is to create atmospheric but true representation of the landscape.

Fraser’s landscape work has resulted in him being awarded the title of SAA Artist of the Year for 2008. For more information call KAS secretary Kay Wood on 01299 400901.
