A YOUNG jazz guitarist and composer from Hereford will be stringing out his hits at a gig at a Wolverley pub.

Remi Harris, who is considered to be one of the UK's top gypsy jazz guitarists, will be performing at the Queen's Head on Saturday, April 27.

The 25-year-old, who is named after the second and third note of the major scale Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do, is the son of an English father and a French mother, both who were artists in their own right.

He is self-taught and bought his own first guitar at the age of seven with money he had saved up.

Initially inspired by artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix and Peter Green, Remi formed the rock and blues band Mars Bonfire with four school friends when he was just 12 years old.

In 2007, they recorded an album with top producer Gavin Monaghan after signing to Darklight Entertainments and performed across the country.

At the age of 20, he decided to learn jazz guitar and started his own gypsy jazz trio in 2009.

The Remi Harris Trio take traditional gypsy jazz and swing characteristics and infuse them with influences from bebop, blues, rock, world music, contemporary jazz and popular melodies. He has performed throughout UK and France

He has recently released his debut album, Ninick, on Big Bear Records.
