RESIDENTS of Wyre Forest are being invited to relax and enjoy a selection of free live music concerts around the area this summer.

The annual programme of outdoor summer music events, organised by Wyre Forest District Council, have already begun and will continue throughout August.

It will feature performances at Brinton Park in Kidderminster, Stourport Riverside Meadows in Stourport and the QEII Jubilee Gardens in Bewdley.

Six Sunday concerts will be held over the summer at Brinton Park, with performances taking place between 2.30pm and 4.30pm, featuring a range of musical styles including Brass, Country and music from the 60s.

At the Bandstand in Riverside Meadows this Sunday (August 3) String of Pearls, a band which plays classics from the 1940s and 50s, will perform between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

There will be four free concerts in Bewdley starting this Sunday (August 3) which continue throughout the month.

Kidderminster Male Choir will open the events with choral music to commemorate the centenary anniversary of the First World War.

The programme at the QEII Gardens includes Jazz, Acoustic Folk and Irish music and will run from 2pm until 4pm.

District councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, well-Being and housing, said: “We’re inviting visitors to bring their own chair or blanket and perhaps a picnic and spend some quality time in our fantastic parks.

“The free concerts are a great afternoon out and with such a wide range of music types on offer, it’s something the whole family can enjoy.”

The concerts have proved popular in the past and organisers are asking visitors help with the running costs by giving a donation.
