VISITORS to Stourport should bring along their dancing shoes as the popular Country and Western Festival is returning to the town.

The free festival takes place this weekend at Riverside Meadows.

Acts due to perform at this year’s event include Dee D James, Streamline and Billy Curtis on Saturday between noon and 8pm, with Magill, Nancy Ann Lee and Paul Bailey playing between 10am and 5pm on Sunday.

Also featuring at the festival will be a line dancing disco with tuition in between acts, a fast draw shoot out, face painting and a bucking bronco.

Food will be provided from a range of stalls which can be browsed alongside a licensed bar.

The festival, which was first held in 2007, is organised in partnership between Wyre Forest District Council, Mervyn Beasley, Hickman’s of Kidderminster and a dedicated group of volunteers.

District councillor Anne Hingley, cabinet member for health, well-being and housing, said: “This is always a lively event and is ideal for a family day out.

“We’d love to see people turn up dressed for the occasion in Country and Western outfits.

“We’ve had a fantastic response in the past and we hope to continue putting on large scale events.

“We’re really grateful to all of our sponsors and we encourage people to make donations to help support our well loved events. “

Visitors to the festival have the option of camping, with pitches available for £15 a night on the site, from 2pm tomorrow, until 10am on Monday, August 18.

Pitches must be booked in advance as there are limited spaces.
