MEMBERS of Kidderminster Rock Choir joined singer and actress Toyah Wilcox for two special performances in Birmingham.

The Kidderminster choir took part in the concerts alongside 1,000 other rock choir members from the midlands.

Rock Choir founder, Caroline Redman Lusher, led performances of a number of classic and contemporary songs in the surroundings of the Symphony Hall.

The concert featured Toyah singing her own hit Mystery, as well as the choir joining for renditions of Bon Jovi’s Livin on a Prayer, Heather Small’s Proud and Cyndi Lauper’s True Colours.

Christa Hugo, who runs the Rock Choirs of Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, Redditch and Stourbridge was thrilled with her choir members’ performance.

“The choir members were absolutely awesome,” she said.

“The response from the audience was fantastic and I’m sure they will remember their performance for years to come.

“They really did themselves proud.”

Organisers of the event described the performance as literally electrifying as the building was hit by lightning during the matinee performance.

After the performance, choir members and the audience were invited to dig deep and make donations to The Teenage Cancer Trust, after choir members had been inspired to fundraise for the charity by the recent loss of local teen, Stephen Sutton.

Rock Choir is the UK’s largest and most popular contemporary choir, with more than 16,000 members in over 300 local communities nationwide.

It offers adults and teenagers the chance to sing and perform popular contemporary and classic pop songs, with no auditions and no requirements to read music or have any previous singing experience.
