A MONTHLY local music showcase, which launched last month, is back with its second outing at the Civic Centre in Stourport.

Kevin Wrench, from Kidderminster organised the monthly event, which is called Live Local, after creating a Facebook page called ‘Wyre Forest Music Scene’ and realised he wanted to try and boost the local music scene.

The second event will take place on Friday, February 6, at 7.30pm, and features local singer/songwriter Graham Houghton, and two young local bands, Unknown First and Wet Desert.

Mr Wrench said: “I am keen to build on the great start we had in January and hopefully increase the audience numbers this time and move closer to establishing Live Local as an event that people will want to be a part of for many years to come.

“In the Civic Centre I believe we have one of the best local venues around and the volunteer staff that were at January’s event worked really hard to ensure that people have a good time.

“I think it’s really important that people support these events and also show their support for local music.

“The Saturday following the first event in January, I found myself sat in front of the television and there was no comparison. I would have much rather have been watching three great local bands.”

Tickets are £6, and are available from the Civic Centre Box Office or online at www.thecivicstourport.co.uk
