A NEW weekly music event in Kidderminster is to launch next Friday, for music lovers in the town.

The best local bands and tribute acts from around the Midlands will be coming to Kidderminster every Friday night, from February 6, to entertain local people.

Colin Carpenter, the creator the event, said: “Kidderminster has been crying out for a music event for a long time. People just need something in town where they can go and listen to great local bands.

“The event is for a person who loves live music.

“People who remember such legendary places such as Frank Freemans, the Riverboat, the Market Tavern and the only remaining place still putting on live bands; the Town Hall, will be able to tell you stories of when they saw the top acts and musicians in the country like the Rolling Stones, Tom Jones and the Kinks.

“The Friday Feeling will be promoting a fun and friendly atmosphere where professional men and women can unwind and relax after a hard weeks work in a sociable and comfortable environment.

“We will be getting in local bands and tribute bands and we hope to keep the event going for at least two years.”

Mr Carpenter hopes to create a new chapter in the history books for the future generations of Kidderminster.

The Friday Feeling launches at the Secret Garden, off the New Road, on Friday, February 6, and is free to attend, with bands playing from 9pm to 11.30pm. A rock disco will take place at the venue afterwards.

The band, Badge, will be opening the first event, which will continue every Friday at the venue.
