THE first ever Black Country Metal to the Masses will see one local band given a stage slot at this year's Bloodstock Open Air Festival.

After several heats to whittle down entries for the competition, XV11, Eyes Of The Raven, Exiles Of Elysium, Slaughter House, A Born Disaster, and Glass Bullet will all be vying for the chance to perform at the festival, which takes place in Derby from August 6 to 9, when they battle it out on stage at Fixxion Warehouse Project, Wolverhampton, on May 23.

The final six beat another 22 bands to the final of the competition, which is being held in the Black Country for the first time this year following a successful event last year in Birmingham, for a potential slot appearing alongside Trivium, Within Temptations, Rob Zombie, Black Label Society, and more.

Last year's winners Eradikator will also be joining the bands as a special guest at the event.
