GLAMOROUS 60s singing legend Billie Davis will headline an all-star night of pop music at a Wyre Forest venue next month.

The show, at The Gilt Edge Club, in Kidderminster, marks a welcome return to the town for the singer, who's previous appearances have been at the Harriers Social Club alongside The Foundations and the late Jet Harris of The Shadows.

Starting her career like many other singers of her time, at the young age of 16, Billie entered a local talent contest at Southall Community Centre, pushed on stage by her best friend. Billie sang a Connie Francis song ,Many Tears Ago. With Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers as her backing group for the performance, Billie won the contest. After winning she was advised by Cliff Bennett to go and see a man named Joe Meek. Billie worked on various experimental recordings and also worked on her own vocal. It was while working with Meek that she was spotted by Robert Stigwood and instantly snapped up. This was the start of her journey into fame.

Over the years and her career, Billie worked with many musicians, including The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and recorded her own music, most notably Tell Him, Angel Of The Morning, and I Want You To Be My Baby.

The Kidderminster show will see Billie performing alongside Eric Haydock, who was the original bass guitarist with The Hollies from 1962 until 1966, playing on most of the Manchester group's greatest hits, including Just One Look, Look Through Any Window, and I'm Alive, and completing the bill at The Gilt Edge Club is the band Gidea Park, who made the pop charts twice in 1981 with Beach Boy Gold, their salute to the Beach Boys, and Seasons Of Gold, their tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
