AS festival season hits its midway mark, Wyre Forest District Council kicks off its annual programme of outdoor free live music events.

Starting this Sunday (July 5), the series of three concerts at Stourport Riverside bandstand, Stourport Meadows will run every Sunday until July 19 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Popular local band Chicago Bytes will be opening the programme in style by playing blues music this weekend.

On the following Sunday (July 12), jazz fans can enjoy Naomi’s Hotsy Totsy Band.

The series at Stourport will then end with a performance from another local favourite – Stourport Brass Band - who will perform on Sunday, July 19.

Separate from the outdoor live music events programme, there will be more live music at Stourport on Saturday and Sunday, August 22and 23, at the annual Country and Western Festival.

Over in Kidderminster, Brinton Park will host a series of six concerts – every Sunday afternoon starting on July 26 and running until August 30, hosting a range of music styles from rock and pop through to country and swing. Concerts at this venue are also between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Visitors to Bewdley aren't going to be left out, as they can enjoy a programme of four concerts which will include folk, jazz and a performance from local favourites Bewdley Concert Band in the QEII Jubilee Gardens. These concerts will take place every Sunday from August 9 to 30 between 2pm and 4pm.

Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet Member for health, well-being and housing, said: “All of this wonderful music is available free of charge. There are well established musicians playing across the Wyre Forest with music to suit everyone’s taste. Get on your dancing shoes in Wyre Forest this summer.”

The concerts are open to everyone. Visitors are invited to bring their own chair or blanket.
