YEE haa! Country and western fans will be in their element next month as Stourport-on-Severn hosts the returning Country and Western Festival.

Riding high for this free event, organised by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with Brian Murdock, Hickman’s of Kidderminster and a dedicated group of volunteers, the Riverside Meadows will be taken over by John Waynes, Billy the Kids, and a few Lone Rangers the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23.

This year’s acts include Gary Quinn, Kay D and Weston Trio from high noon until 8pm on the Saturday.

On Sunday from 11am until 6pm, Calico Duo, Richard Palmer and Magill will be keeping the crowds entertained.

There will be line dancing tuition and a DJ in between acts. Other entertainment includes a fast draw shoot out, face painting, and children’s rides. There will be food available to purchase thanks to Brian Murdoch and an exciting range of stalls to browse around, including a licensed bar provided by The Little Pack Horse.

Camping pitches are available for £15 per night from 2pm on Friday, August 21, until 10am the following Monday. Pitches must be booked in advance at wyreforestdc.gov.uk/bookings.

Any local businesses or traders who are interested in hosting a stall at this festival should contact Amy Smith via email at amy.smith@wyreforestdc.gov.uk or call 01562 732975.
