A NEW band launching in Kidderminster is dedicating its big first night to charity.

Arcadia Roots, a band made up of a collective of musicians, four from the Kidderminster area, are hosting a big launch event at Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday, December 5.

But instead of just making the night about themselves and their unique blend of traditional African drumming and rhythms, twisted with modern melodies and instruments to create a a sound that combines many genres including dance, soul and world music, Arcadia Roots are giving all their profits from the night to a Kidderminster-based charity called Build a School in Gambia.

Band member Dave Small said while in Gambia himself he visited many children in schools that benefited from fundraising in the Midlands, and this was the reason the band wanted to help.

The launch night starts at 8pm and finishes at 2am. Throughout the evening, there will be DJs, dancers and jugglers and guest performers alongside Arcadia Roots.

Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the door. For more information, visit arcadiaroots.com.
