A NEWLY formed Kinver orchestra is looking for new members to join it ahead of its first fundraising concert in March.

St Peter’s Concert Orchestra is gearing up to play its debut show, ‘Animal Madness’, at the picturesque, 11th century St Peter’s Church in Kinver on Saturday, March 4.

The aim of the concert will be to raise much needed funds for St Peter’s Church, Forest Dog Rescue and the orchestra itself.

And, to help strengthen its ranks, the orchestra is recruiting new musicians to join them.

Stuart Mallen, from St Peter’s Concert Orchestra, said: “We are incredibly fortunate to have two members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra living in Kinver and willing to play with us and help us develop this brand new orchestra.

“The standard is very high and players need to be grade seven standard and above: we currently need to recruit strings, trumpets, trombones and percussion.”

The March concert will include a performance of Flight of the Bumblebee, with soloist Jane Wright, Sub Principal Violin with the CBSO, Swan Lake and Peter and the Wolf.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, £5 for under 16s while under 5s can get in for free. Tickets are available from St Peter’s Church and Kinver Community Library or by calling 07904 798 412.

The orchestra will be performing to pupils from Brindley Heath Junior School, Kinver and Holy Trinity School, Kidderminster the day before to demonstrate each of the orchestral instruments and give children an opportunity to try them out.

Interested musicians can contact The SPCO by emailing: spco@musician.org or telephoning 07432 515 596.
