POPULAR American band the Cherry Bluestorms are set to fly onto the Bewdley stage to headline the next event in the monthly Music in the Hall series.

Arriving direct from Los Angeles on a short UK tour - that also takes in Liverpool Sound and Vision - the Cherry Bluestorms will headline the St George’s Hall stage on Friday, May 12.

The Cherry Bluestorms consist of three musical vets who produce a set of songs out of a labour of love for the sound itself.

The band are a British pop influenced psych-mod band from sunny Los Angeles, that mixes unforgettable guitar hooks with groovy vocal harmonies.

Deborah Gee is the leading chanteuse, while Glen Laughlin is the multi-instrumental genius behind guitar, vocals, bass and keyboard, and Mark Francis plays the drums.

The group boast a significant back catalogue including the respected rock opera “Bad Penny Opera” and their debut album “Transit of Venus”. The Cherry Bluestorms’ new album, “Whirligig”, is due out shortly.

At a recent show in LA, they received some terrific reviews, and Music in the Hall organisers said Bewdley music fans can expect the high standard of artist regularly featured to be maintained next week.

The evening will be opened by monthly youth act - and taking to the stage this month is young troubadour Molly Mallinson.

While the main support of the night will be provided by Kidderminster singer/songwriter, the Humdrum Express.

Ian Passey, who records and performs as the Humdrum Express, recently released his new EP.

Ian, who has released five albums over the past 10 years, continues to document the quirks of modern day life with his latest offering.

The lead track on the EP, Lookalike Bond, finds him taking on the role as a professional lookalike whose fortunes are determined by the star he pretends to be. The song’s video, which features people dressed as celebrities, can be found on YouTube.

Doors will open at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show on May 12, cost £10.

Tickets for the event are available from the St George’s Hall Cafe, or online at musicinthehall.co.uk or thehall-bewdley.org.uk.
