A CHOIR in Bewdley is urging people to find their voices and join them when they start a new term later this month.

Bewdley’s Got 2 Sing group will meet again on Wednesday, January 17 at Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre following the festive break.

And leader Beth Dunn said she is hoping that more people take up singing for their new year’s resolution as a means of living a healthier and happier life.

Rehearsals see members develop their vocal technique, harmony and live performances.

Beth said: “Got 2 Sing is not your typical stand behind the music type of choir as there’s no requirement to read music or audition.

“Our rehearsals are friendly and fun and we sing wonderful, uplifting popular songs in three-part harmony and put some movement to the songs to bring them to life.

“From experience I know how much singing together can improve people’s self-esteem, health and confidence and being part of a choir has helped many of our members with loneliness, depression and anxiety, offering a sense of community and belonging.

“Singing may not necessarily be the first topic that springs to mind, but joining a choir may well prove as beneficial as joining a gym - and a whole lot more fun!”

The first rehearsal of the year, at the Stourport Road-based school, on January 18 will begin at 7.15pm until 9pm.
