ACCLAIMED blues singer songwriter Jo Harman will be the first act of the year at a regular Bewdley music night later this month.

The blues, soul and gospel influenced artist will present ‘An Intimate Evening with Jo Harman’ at St George’s Hall on Friday, January 26.

It is part of Bewdley’s ‘Music in the Hall’ series which is now in its third year.

Jo will be showcasing her work including songs from her last album “People We Become”, which was BBC Radio Two’s Album of the Week during 2017.

She has been extensively touring the world to promote the album and single ‘When We Were Young’, which features soul legend Michael McDonald.

The evening also showcases the familiar Youth Act slot which features Wyre Forest 2017 Musicians of the Year Mayfli, whilst performing as Jo’s main support is Esther Turner.

A spokesman for Music in the Hall said: “Jo is used to playing on some of the biggest stages around the world but enjoys playing intimate venues with her powerful and evocative ‘piano and voice’ duo show which some critics believe showcase her at her compelling best.

“Together with her pianist Gary Sanctuary and a repertoire of sincere, heartfelt compositions widely regarded as being carved in marble, Jo takes her audience on an emotional journey.

“Her relaxed banter between songs give an exceptional insight into the world of this talented vocalist, songwriter and artist.”

Jo said: “I’ve learned how to express myself a bit better, and to convincingly put across the stories that I’m telling.

“It’s a natural progression. My voice has matured, in the same way that the songs have matured, and the production has matured. I’ve only ever tried to be me, and that’s what ‘People We Become’ is. It’s me.”

Tickets are £12.00 and can be purchased on-line at www.musicinthehall.co.uk, www.thehall-bewdley.org.uk or at Hall Cafe.

This show will be closely followed on February 9 with a visit from the Black Country’s internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Pete Williams and Band, who will be featuring his new album at the Hall.
