TALENTED young musicians from across Wyre Forest are set to battle it out again in an annual competition in Bewdley.

Bewdley Youth Festival is holding the fourth annual music Wyre Forest Young Musician of the Year competition at St George’s Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, February 10.

It is open to young musicians who are in education and who either live in the Wyre Forest district or attend a school or college within the district and aged between 12 and 18 as at December 31 2017.

Category winners will be invited to perform at a gala concert in the evening at which the Young Musician of the Year will be chosen and the winner of the prize for Best Original Composition will be announced.

The categories Classical Music Section (Instrumentalists and Singers), Solo Instrumentalist, Solo Singer (accompanied or unaccompanied) and Group (two or more members, acoustic or amplified).

In addition there will be prizes for Wyre Forest Young Musician of the Year, Bewdley Festival prize for best original composition and Best Young Musician aged 14 or under.

Competitors will perform one piece of their own choice with a total performance time of four minutes and can enter more than one category.

The competition will be open to the public and entry to the evening gala event will be £5 for adults and £3 for those who are 18 or under or currently in education. Tickets can be purchased online or from the café at St George’s Hall.
