BEWDLEY is set for a barnstorming night of country music as two acclaimed artists will grace a town venue.

Country music enthusiasts can enjoy southern stylings of award-winning Americana songwriter Emily Barker, and the celebrated Ags Connolly Duo at St George’s Hall on Friday April 6.

The Australian artist Emily Barker is appearing weeks before her UK tour supporting legendary American singer Mary Chaplin Carpenter, and will be performing with skilled guitarist Lukas Drinkwater.

She will bring her seamless mix of soul, blues, country and folk to the enthusiastic ‘Music In the Hall’ audience, coming straight from a world tour support her recent album Sweet Kind of Blue.

Emily is known as the writer and performer of the award-winning theme to BBC crime drama Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh, and she has previously landed UK Artist of the Year and the 2018 UK Americana Awards.

Oxford-based artist Ags Connolly is co-headlining the event, bringing his batch hardcore country inspired anthems. The artist will be performing as part of a duet, having previously been a constant presence on the touring circuit fronting a full band.

Ags’ music has received critical acclaim amongst Country aficionados, with Country Music People Magazine naming his song ‘When Country Was Proud’ as one of the best country songs of the last 30 years.
