A KIDDERMINSTER music mogul who promotes female-fronted heavy metal bands has taken up management of a US rock group.
Dave Smith started Ravenheart Music two years ago after hearing that there was prejudice against women in rock and heavy metal bands.
The full-time meteorologist, who promotes bands as a hobby, helped Idaho-based band, Rott, get a record deal with American label, Renaissance Records.
He is also helping to promote Kidderminster band, Oak.
The 53-year-old of Comberton Road, said: "Rock music is male oriented so I thought I would try and do something about it.
"I have had an interest in music from a young age and used to drive my parents barmy listening to Ozzy Osbourne's band Black Sabbath.
He continued: "Some of my artists have gone on to get record deals with labels in America.
"All the feedback I have been getting has been positive."
He added that it is still taboo to have a woman front a rock, heavy metal or gothic band.
