Aneurin Barnard finds himself crowned as King Richard III in a scene from new BBC TV series The White Queen.
The Welsh star takes the throne in BBC One's adaptation of Philippa Gregory's best-selling historical novel series The Cousin's War, which is set against the backdrop of the War of the Roses.
Described as a "rich tale of love and loss, seduction and deception, betrayal and murder", The White Queen follows three different yet equally driven women in their quest for power as they manipulate behind the scenes of history - Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beaufort and Anne Neville.
Actress Rebecca Ferguson is to play the White Queen, Elizabeth, alongside Max Irons as her husband Edward IV and Janet McTeer as screen mum Jacquetta. Amanda Hale plays Margaret, while Faye Marsay is Anne.
Controller of BBC Drama Ben Stephenson said: "One of the most ambitious series the BBC has made, this 10-part series is an epic drama that makes real history as gripping as the best fiction, featuring a cast of extraordinary new talent and some of our finest actors."
The series, which has been filming on location in Bruges, Belgium, will air on BBC One in the spring.
