BEATLEMANIA returned to Birmingham this week, when West End and Broadway smash-hit ‘Let It Be’ rocked onto the stage.

The show celebrates the music of the world’s most successful rock and roll band in a spectacular concert charting the Beatles’ rise from Liverpool’s Cavern Club, through to their later studio masterpieces.

‘Let It Be’ has already been seen by more than one million people worldwide and getting rave reviews, it has now set off on a UK tour. The show is packed with more than 40 of the group’s greatest hits including ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘She Loves You’ and ‘Drive My Car’, as well as global mega hits ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Come Together’ and, of course, ‘Let It Be’.

The cast are brilliant throughout, with each of them bearing strong resemblance and close singing voices to the individual Beatle they portray and the performances extend beyond a tribute act.

The set changes several times throughout the show to resemble venues the Beatles performed at over the years, including the famous Cavern Club, their largest concert at New York City’s Shea Stadium and the 1963 Royal Variety performance at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

The costuming is extraordinary throughout the show, with each of the four acts undergoing several haircuts and outfits through the band’s progression. The most exciting change was the iconic Sg. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts uniforms, which rallied cheers from the audiences as they knew what memorable songs were to follow.

The whole show had audience members singing along and dancing in their seats as you are taken through a catalogue of Beatles hits.

Having experienced the show myself, it is clear to see why the show has proved so popular around the world. The actors, performances, sets and costumes are excellent, and is brought together by the music of the fab four.

Regardless of whether you are a die-hard Beatles fan or just enjoy a few of their songs, ‘Let It Be’ promises to be a great night out for all.

‘Let It Be’ continues at the Birmingham Hippodrome until Saturday, April 30.
