THE Nonentities had the chance to pick up some tips for their next production from the professional touring cast of Blood Brothers at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre.

The Rose Theatre’s amateur dramatics group were invited to meet actors Sean Jones and Mark Hutchinson and learn more about the show.

They will put on their own performance at the Rose from Monday to next Saturday.

Blood Brothers is set in working-class Liverpool and charts the lives of brothers Mickey and Eddie.

Mickey’s mother, Mrs Johnston already has seven children when her husband walks out on her and she discovers she is pregnant with twins and her employer, the wealthy, middle-class Mrs Lyons offers to take one.

The boy’s attempts to remain friends are thwarted by their mothers, fearful that the superstition that one will die might come true.

The enduring story of nature versus nurture is full of menace and foreboding and as humorous as it is heartbreaking.

Newcomer to the Nonentities, Chris Drew, a drama student at Halesowen College, will be making his debut at the Rose Theatre as Eddie Lyons.
