JACK will be taking on the giant at the top of the beanstalk twice next week in Wyre Forest.

Two separate performances of Christmas pantomime Jack and The Beanstalk will take place at Cookley Village Hall and Blakedown Parish Rooms.

Blakedown theatre group Theatre 282 will be bringing the tale to the village parish rooms each evening from Thursday, December 5 to Saturday, December 7, as well as a Saturday matinee.

The story, written by Norman Robbins, is a classic tale of boy, Jack, who meets his girl, the Princess Melissa, but evil lurks in the shape of the giant and his henchman Rancid who want to rule over the kingdom and ruin their romance.

Theatre 282’s pantomime will boast all the classic ingredients, giants, fairies, large horticultural foliage, magic beans and villains.

There will be comedy, songs, lively dance routines, outrageous costumes, a lovable cow and romance.

Professional touring company Gary Starr Pantomimes will presenting their version of the show in Cookley on Saturday, December 7.

Gary has more than 25 years in the entertainment business and writes, produces and directs his productions as well as making an occasional appearance.

The adaptation features Jack face the evil Abrac and the villainous giant and includes a traditional dame, a talking Pantomime cow and a comedy Bee called Bertram.

Daryl Preece of Upfront Entertainments said “We wanted to try something different for Christmas this year and we hope people in the area will be eager to come and enjoy a traditional pantomime at a local venue.”
