THE cast of Theatre 282's latest production have been struggling to compose themselves rehearsing for one of the "funniest plays ever to reach the stage".

The Blakedown-based theatre company will be performing There Goes the Bride, by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, featuring a script that has had the cast in stitches.

The play will be performed from next Thursday to Saturday, March 22 at Blakedown Parish Rooms.

Steve Conway, Theatre 282 marketing officer, said: "This is one of the funniest plays ever to reach the stage, it is sheer comedy at the highest level."

The play is set in 1970s suburbia on the morning of a society wedding. During the chaosTimothy, the father of the bride, receives a bang on the head.

When he wakes up, he finds himself in the company of a 1920s Flapper girl that no one else can see.

The wedding plans dissolve into further chaos, when a second incident transports Timothy’s mind to 1926 and the Savoy Hotel London, with even more hilarity.

Steve added: "Also Theatre 282 wish to thank all those wonderful Wyre Forest ladies who responded to their request for a Flapper dress for the next Theatre 282 production

"It just highlights the power of local press that we were offered more flapper dresses that we needed."
