A PRODUCTION of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will brighten up the stage at The Rose Theatre this June.

Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth Section (KODYS) will perform the musical, which features the songs Close Every Door to Me and Any Dream Will Do, four times.

Shows will take place at 7.30pm every evening from Thursday, June 26 to Saturday, June 28, with an additional matinee on Saturday at 2.30pm.

Doug Forrester, director of the production, said: “I have got a really great bunch of kids who have worked very hard.

“The audience can expect a show full of energy and comedy, and we will be playing to a full crowd which is exceptional.

“The young people, aged nine to 15, are really looking forward to performing.”

Daniel Richards will play his first lead in the role of Joseph, following in the footsteps of his parents Sarah and Darren who have headed casts in several performances for the adult society.

Jessica Richards, Daniel’s sister, will share the role of narrator alongside Grace Gordon and local musician Elissha Green.

Director Doug Forrester will be supported by choreographer Kathryn Knight and musical director Russell Painter in the production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice classic.

Three of the KODYS shows have sold out but tickets are still available for the Friday evening performance.

KODYS, which is the youth section of Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society, recently won a national award for its production of Bugsy Malone.

The Rose Theatre on Chester Road North in Kidderminster is a 181-seat venue that promotes both amateur and professional plays and entertainments. It is owned and administered by Nonentities, an amateur society.

Upcoming shows include Mr A’s Amazing Maze Plays presented by Nonentities Youth Theatre and tribute act Bootleg Abba.
