NINETY-NINE years ago, Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society staged its first ever performance – Patience.

Since then, the group has entertained the Wyre Forest public on numerous occasions, making them laugh, cry, tap their toes and even feel inspired to join as new members themselves.

This year is set to be no different as they tackle laughter and toe-tapping music with the box office hit Me and My Girl.

Lambeth Walk, The Sun Has Got His Hat On, and Leaning On A Lamppost will be performed by a strong cast – led by Ryan Donnell as Bill Snibson, his first leading male role with the society, and Molly Parmenter, who was the leading lady in Summer Holiday last year. Both Molly and Ryan were involved in drama throughout their youth, with school, college, the youth group KODYS or as children in the KODS performances, before moving into the main society as adults supporting current and new members.

The show, which will hit the stage at the Rose Theatre in March, will be directed by John Jones, who has years of experience within the society both on stage, behind the scenes and as a director, and he is supported by another devoted member, Cheryl Skidmore, as choreographer.

Joining the team in his first appointment with the society, Chris Passey will take on the role as musical director, and completing the team is stage manager Yvonne Dawson.

Across 11 performances between March 5 and 14, including two Saturday matinees, the cast and crew will be set to entertain crowds and prepare them for the even bigger performances to come with their centenary year in 2016.
