TO CELEBRATE its centenary year, Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society will digging out their tap shoes for hit broadway musical 42nd Street.

The show tells the story of Peggy Sawyer who arrives in New York City with hopes of becoming a Broadway star.

Starting back in 1916, KODS staged its first show and since then has been entertaining the Wyre Forest public performing musicals, plays and concerts.

The centenary year will be about celebrating the history and gathering memories from past members. But the society is also looking for new faces to get involved, especially men.

The Patron of the society, Pat Scully, says “Naturally in 1916 there was a shortage of male performers in their first production. Then as now we still have a shortage of male performers taking part so, we would love to hear from anyone who is looking for a chance to enjoy themselves on stage and to make new friends. As a Society we have been told we're very friendly, so do get in touch.”

The first rehearsals will be on Monday and Thursday, October 26 and 29, at New Meeting Hall, Church Street, Kidderminster, with the show running March 10 to 19 at The Rose Theatre.
