AN ambitious new staging of Macbeth will come to the Birmingham Repertory Theatre at the end of this month.

The powerful interpretation will be the first of three Shakespeare plays to be presented at the REP in 2016 to mark the 400th anniversary of his death.

Following their acclaimed collaboration on Medea at the National Theatre, Carrie Cracknell and Lucy Guerin create a new version of Shakespeare’s supernatural tragedy.

When the prophecy of three witches proclaims that Macbeth is destined to become the King of Scotland, he and Lady Macbeth embark upon a murderous journey of power, treachery, paranoia, betrayal and suicide.

Macbeth will be at the REP between January 26 and January 30.

Tickets are between £13.50 and £35, and are available by calling 0121 2364455 or by visiting Birmingham-rep.co.uk.
