A MUSICAL telling the true story of the only known British woman soldier on the frontline during the First World War is set to be performed in Kidderminster on Friday, May 20.

Set in spring 1919, Dorothy’s War – which will be shown at Clows Top Victory Hall at 8pm – portrays the journey of Dorothy Lawrence and her attempts to gain access to the frontline.

Having been denied entry as a freelance war correspondent while in France, she disguised herself as a man and obtained forged identity papers under the name of Private Denis Smith.

Her story is told through songs of the period ranging from much-loved favourites to forgotten gems, all sung live by the UK's leading female vocal harmony trio, The Harmonettes.
