A KIDDERMINSTER based theatre company are aiming to make many dreams come true this month by staging Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat during Kidderminster Arts Festival.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice favourite is not generally available for amateur performances, but special permission has been granted to the Wheely Different Theatre Company in recognition of their work in community theatre for adults with disabilities.

Wheely Different Theatre Company (WDTC) will stage Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday, August 25, and Friday, August 26.

The company started life as a social enterprise project, developed by Elaine Ball, for adults in Wyre Forest. WDTC normally write and produce their own shows, make silent films, perform wheelchair dance and are gaining a reputation exciting, inclusive performances.

The members all acquire new skills and gain confidence and some have said that being involved with WDTC has been life-changing.

Elaine runs the project with her daughter, Eleanor Mouzer, and they knew Joseph would be a popular show for the members to work on.

Elaine said: "The show is a large community project, a year of work will result in a show our company can be proud of and we are honoured to have been given permission to perform in Kidderminster Arts Festival.

"It is challenging for the group but they have risen to the task by giving 100 per cent commitment and enthusiasm.

"It is a pleasure and a great privilege to be part of it all."

Tom Farley, who will take on the role of Joseph, said: "I am ecstatic to be playing Joseph.

"It is an amazing opportunity to express my acting skills in a number of ways and will be looking forward to performing alongside WDTC once again."

Loz Samuels, arts and play development officer at Wyre Forest District Council said: "We are really proud to have the Wheely Different Theatre Company as part of the KAF programme.

"It is very impressive that Elaine has managed to secure the licence for this show.

"Elaine is an incredible driving force and it is fantastic that she brings inclusive theatre to the festival."

Eleanor Mouzer, assistant director, added: "I am thrilled to be taking part in such a wonderful production.

"The cast and crew are working hard every week to create a show which we all know and love."

The show will take place at 2pm on August 25 and 2pm and 7.30pm on August 26.
