A NEW production of Oscar Wilde’s the Importance of Being Earnest will launch Birmingham Repertory Theatre’s autumn season.
The Importance of Being Earnest, which will run between September 9 and September 24, provides audiences with the chance to see the new production for the first time in Birmingham.
The production will star actress Cathy Tyson as the iconic Lady Bracknell, as well as Sharan Phull, Edward Franklin and Fela Lufadejue.
Bachelor Jack Worthing and his best friend Algernon Moncrieff hope to marry society’s most eligible ladies, Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. But the men’s courtship of the women is far from straight forward.
With double identities, handbag mishaps and hostile encounters with the formidable Lady Bracknell, the pair become embroiled in a web of mistaken identities with hilarious consequences.
Tickets start from £15 and are available from the box office on 0121 2364455 or by visiting birmingham-rep.co.uk.
